Abstract:
For a long period of time, there has been a substantial gap between theories and practices of assessment and learning. To many frontline teachers, the issue of technology-enhanced assessment literacy remains a great challenge. With the recent innovation in Computerized Knowledge Structure-based Adaptive Dynamic Assessment, education practitioners are now able to integrate assessment with learning in a “smarter” way than ever before and unleash the full potential of Self-Regulated Learning, which is considered one of the 21st Century key competencies. This presentation will first explicate the concepts of smart assessment and smart learning, highlighting the characteristic features of a CKSADA system and a SRL classroom practice model, then describe an Iterative Integrated Closed-Loop Assessment-Learning-Instructional Framework integrating CKSADA with SRL. Preliminary results of two pilot studies, one conducted in a Taichung primary school and the other in Hong Kong secondary schools will be presented as examples.
